SOTO CANO AIR BASE, Honduras -- A C-5M Super Galaxy aircraft assigned to Westover Air Reserve Base, Massachusetts, delivered humanitarian aid supplies through the Denton Program to Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, May 19, 2021.
The Denton Program works with non-profit organizations to provide shipments of humanitarian assistance items such as non-perishable food, household items, medical supplies and clothing.
“Heaven's Reach Ministries donated equipment to build a medical clinic weighing 3.5 metric tons,” said U.S. Air Force Maj. Duane Reid, director of operations with the 612th Air Base Squadron. “The clinic is to be placed in the township of Delores, Intibucá, Honduras.”
This clinic will serve the surrounding area of the township of Delores, and will support approximately 5,500 locals with medical needs and jobs.
The donations were brought together from multiple organizations in the United States, valued at $188,488 and will potentially impact the lives of 550,000 throughout Honduras.
Another donation was from the Abundant Rain Ministries & Pastors association that donated 41.5 metric tons of food specifically supporting schools, orphanages and general feeding programs for children and families. The food will be distributed to the remote locations of Honduras.
“These shipments assist in strengthening our partnership with our host nation,” said Reid.
