SAN ANGELO, Texas --
The 344th Military Intelligence Battalion held its Change of Command ceremony at Fort Concho, in San Angelo, Texas, May 21.
Col. Loren Traugutt, 111th Military Intelligence Brigade commander, congratulated Lt. Col. Brian Ryan, outgoing 344th MI BN commander, on his hard work and dedication.
“This is a great battalion, with incredible, professional and competent Soldiers and civilians,” said Traugutt. “They are this way because of you, your leadership, your passion, your vision. Be proud of them and be proud of yourself.”
Ryan welcomed Lt. Col. Joe Garwacki, incoming 344th MI BN commander.
“Lt. Col. Joe Garwacki, as you take the battalion, you’re taking something that has a long tradition,” said Ryan. “You are taking on an amazing battalion, some of the greatest people you will ever meet. I’m handing over this organization to an unbelievable leader who’s going to take this so much further than I could. Joe, this is your formation, and I’m honored to give it to someone like you. It’s been awesome, it’s been a great ride. Sentinel six, signing off.”
Garwacki expressed his excitement to be taking command.
“I look forward to serving with you and being a part of the 111th Military Intelligence Brigade. Sentinel six, signing on.”
