The garrison hosted a change of responsibility at Truscott Air Terminal where Command Sgt. Maj. Tremayne Robbins relinquished responsibility to Command Sgt. Maj. Ryan C. Reichard, May 25.

“You (Robbins) have successfully navigated a host of challenges across this garrison,” said Lt. Col. Stephan Bolton, Hunter Army Airfield garrison commander. “You have been a great supporter of everything the garrison has done while on the path to a renewed sense of community. I appreciate you and thank you for being my teammates.”

During his time as the senior enlisted leader for Hunter Army Airfield Garrison, Robbins was a main pillar in maintaining the installation during several crises.

“Within the last two years we had Hurricane Dorian and the pandemic, which both rocked this community, but we all came together as a tight knit family to do the best we could to successfully complete the mission,” Robbins said.

When asked about lessons learned from these experiences, Robbins replied, “It teaches you true grit. There is nothing in the Army that trains you for the amount of stuff we have gone through as a team these past two year. We just pulled ourselves together, used our past experiences and with a little trial and error, we got through it all.”

Receiving the ceremonial guidon from Bolton, Reichard publicly took the responsibility of senior enlisted leader to the garrison.

“Honestly, this is a great opportunity to be involved in the community and make an impact on Soldier’s lives,” Reichard said. “Being in aviation for over 20 years, I could not have asked for a better installation to serve on.”

At the conclusion of the ceremony, attendees said their farewell to Robbins while welcoming Reichard. Mayor Van Johnson of Savannah was one of the many distinguished visitors attending the event who welcomed Reichard to the community.

“I’m excited to get to know and work with him (Johnson). That partnership helps us improve the installation and to get our Soldiers involved in the community,” Reichard said.

While Reichard moves into his new office at Hunter Army Airfield Garrison, Robbins will be taking over as the U.S. Army Environmental Command, Brigade Command Sergeant Major in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
