    KINGS BAY, Ga. ─ Naval Branch Health Clinic Kings Bay opened a prescription refill kiosk on May 28. Patients now pick up all refills (except refrigerated items and controlled substances) at the kiosk, rather than at a pharmacy window.

    With the kiosk, there’s no need to take a number and wait in the pharmacy lobby.

    The kiosk is located in the front lobby of the Clinic, near Immunizations and Optometry. The kiosk can be accessed Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

    New prescriptions (as well as refills that are either refrigerated or controlled substances) will continue to be picked up at a pharmacy window, rather than the kiosk.

    “The kiosk is secure and easy to use for refills,” said Cmdr. Adrian Gaskin, NBHC Kings Bay officer in charge. “We also expect the kiosk to lead to faster wait times at the Pharmacy windows, since the windows will now be focused on new prescriptions.”

    This automated kiosk and locker system (known as ScriptCenter) is deploying to 69 military treatment facilities across the U.S. this year. Each unit provides a safe, secure, and controlled way for patients to pick up prescriptions.

    To use the kiosk the first time, patients need to first enroll on-site at the kiosk, which usually takes less than two minutes. For your one-time enrollment at the kiosk:
    • scan your military ID card (Common Access Card or Uniformed Services ID Card);
    • enter your date of birth;
    • create a password and four-digit pin.

    To pick up medications at the kiosk the first time, you’ll need a current prescription number.

    After you create an account, you can use your fingerprint, ID card, or password with four-digit pin to unlock and get your medications.

    To request a prescription refill, patients will continue to call 800-NAV-PHAR (800-628-7427) or visit the TRICARE Online Patient Portal at www.TRICAREonline.com.

    Other options for filling prescriptions include: TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery, TRICARE retail network pharmacies, and non-network pharmacies.

    Check the TRICARE formulary — at www.express-scripts.com/frontend/open-enrollment/tricare/fst/#/ — to see what prescriptions are covered and where, as well as any out of pocket costs.

    For questions, patients can call the Clinic’s Pharmacy at (912) 573-4234 or 573-4264.

    NBHC Kings Bay is one of Naval Hospital Jacksonville’s six health care facilities located across Florida and Georgia.
