GREAT LAKES, Ill. (May 26, 2021) – Naval Station Great Lakes announced their Sailors of the Quarter in an awards ceremony May 14, 2021.
Master-at-Arms 3rd Class Joshua Strickland, from Aiken, South Carolina, was named Bluejacket of the Quarter for Great Lakes. Strickland is a part of Great Lakes’ security department. He has been in the Navy for six years and aboard Great Lakes for over two years.
“I feel extremely honored and prideful to be recognized for my hard work and dedication to service as well as to able to represent [Navy Security Forces] Great Lakes by being awarded Blue Jacket of the Quarter,” said Strickland.
Strickland works as a patrolman with the NSF Great Lakes team. In his day-to-day, he enforces all rules and regulations as well as conducts investigations. Strickland states that his favorite aspect of his job is the opportunity to be able to serve the community that encompasses NAVSTA Great Lakes and ensure that every military member and civilian feels safe and protected.
“I just want to reiterate how grateful and am to be awarded this,” said Strickland. “NSF Great Lakes prides itself in the fact every member not only supports the command but each other that stand the watch to include the leadership that helps every sailor in their endeavors to achieve any goal they set themselves towards.”
