The Navy League announced the selectees of the 2020 Vice Adm. Robert F. Batchelder Award, May 20.

Lt. Naomi Green was selected as one of the four recipients for the work she accomplished as the supply officer while stationed aboard the Ohio-class guided-missile submarine USS Florida (SSGN 728) (Blue) homeported at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia.

Green, who is currently assigned to Naval Submarine Support Center Kings Bay, said she is humbled by her selection.

“There are so many great supply officers, doing amazing jobs supporting our warfighters and ensuring we are ready for sea who are going unrecognized,” said Green. “I am grateful to be surrounded by such outstanding officers and am deeply humbled at the opportunity to be honored alongside them.”

The award is presented annually by the Navy League to Supply Corps officers who made significant contributions to operating forces’ supply readiness and positively impacted the Supply Corps.

Green, a Sacramento, Calif. native, says she joined the Navy nearly 22 years ago to do something meaningful with her life.

“I honestly feel like joining the Navy was the best decision I ever made,” said Green.

Green said she has received great mentorship and guidance throughout her naval career and credits her motivation to the people she works with.

“Every day I strive to support those that rely on me, not to let them down,” she said. “Each morning I wake up and I get the opportunity to do it all over again. It’s a very gratifying experience.”

Her advice to others who are working toward their professional goals is to keep pushing and stay positive.

“Try and recognize that tough jobs prepare you for the tougher jobs you will have in the future,” said Green. “Seek out relationships with mentors that can provide you guidance and career advice and be generous enough to pass it on to those around you.”

The award honors the memory of Vice Adm. Batchelder, who served on active duty from 1917-1957 and retired as Inspector General at the Bureau of Supplies and Accounts, now the Naval Supply Systems Command.

Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay is homeport to all East Coast Ohio-class submarines, to include six ballistic-missile and two guided-missile submarines.
