PORT OF SHUAIBA, Kuwait—Soldier deployed with the 1185th Deployment Distribution Support Battalion delivers mail as part of the mission to support operations at the Port of Shuaiba, Kuwait. May 21, 2021.
“Overall, I enjoy the experience of handling mail here while on tour “said Spc. Marvin Daniel, Human Resource Specialist, during his morning trip to the post office for mail pick up.
“A lot of people think that 42As only work behind a computer, but postal operations are actually an additional skill identifier for our MOS and very critical during a deployment where many of us are far away from friends and family”, he said.
Spc. Daniels, 27, is the second of three siblings experiencing his first deployment as an Army Reserve Soldier working at the Port of Shuaiba.
Human resource specialists are typically responsible for personnel and admin support, additional duties such as postal operator provide specialization in the field while deployed.
Spc. Daniels emphasizes Soldiers look forward to receiving letters, packages and anything that could lift their spirits.
“Not only does it bring up the unit moral, but it also has given me the opportunity to experience some of the other aspects of my MOS” Daniel said.
