HUNTER ARMY AIRFIELD, GA. – The 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division and Hunter Army Airfield garrison celebrated the Army’s 246th birthday on June 10 at the Warrior Restaurant dining facility, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia.

The dining facility was adorned with birthday balloons and decorations as well as displays showing the evolution of the Army uniform over the last 246 years.

During the celebration, Hunter Army Airfield Garrison Commander Lt. Col. Stephan Bolton led the cake cutting ceremony.

“The strength of our nation is our Army; the strength of our Army is our Soldiers, and the strength of our soldiers is our families,” said Bolton. “As we recognize ourselves as the oldest service in the U.S military, it is important to understand where we are coming from and honor that tradition”

Leaders from 3rd CAB served lunch to Soldiers at the dining facility. Staff Sgt. Robert Gomez stood behind the serving glass as he scooped food onto Soldiers’ trays.

“I believe the Army’s birthday is very important to celebrate,” said Staff Sgt. Robert Gomez, a Soldier assigned to 3rd CAB. “It showcases our esprit de corps and shows what the Army has done throughout the years.”
