Despite declining infection rates and the end of the mask requirement in the inner city area, the 23rd Corona Control Order of the state of Rheinland-Pfalz continues an extended mask requirement at weekly markets.
Press release: Extended mask requirement at the weekly markets
On the entire areas of the main farmers market and the district markets, which are considered a public institution, there is still a mask requirement with the requirement that a medical face mask (surgical mask) or a mask of the standards KN95/N95 or FFP2 is worn. Anyone who crosses the market area without any concrete intention to buy or stays there, is therefore obliged to wear such a mask.
Manuela Matz, head of the Department of Public Order, appeals to citizens to comply with the applicable distance and hygiene regulations and to consistently adhere to the extended mask requirement at the weekly markets. "Especially in tight situations and in crowds, it is important to continue to be careful and prudent. By wearing the mask at the weekly market, you protect yourself and other customers."
