Sarah: If you are a Federal Wage System employee looking for career progression resources, we have information to make your search easier!
Sarah: With us today is Aleisa Roberson from the AFSC Workforce Development Office. Hi Aleisa. Thank you for joining us!
Aleisa: Hi Sarah! I am excited to be here and even more excited to talk about this resource site.
Sarah: What is the site, and what is its purpose?
Aleisa: The Wage Grade Career Path website is a resource packed with information. It was created to make it easier for employees to find helpful, commonly used information…all in one location.
Sarah: Who is the target audience for the website?
Aleisa: The site is tailored to wage grade employees, but we encourage everyone to become familiar with it and to share with co-workers who may not have seen it.
At the bottom of your screen is a link. If you are a wage grade employee, I need you to get familiar with it. This will become your one-stop-shop for career progression resources.
Sarah: So what is on the site?
Aleisa: The site opens to an AF level view of skills, knowledge and competencies needed to progress from one level to the next. Then, you can get career planning tools including a progression pyramid, fact sheets by series, a checklist to assess readiness to promote, and mentoring resources. If you identified things you need to work on, you can get information on technical training, degrees, self-development, resume writing and interviewing. Have you ever wondered how hiring managers score your resumes? There is even a link to that!
Sarah: Can you tell us how to navigate through the site?
Aleisa: Absolutely! Let’s start with the homepage. Click an employee level. Everything that follows is specific to that level. Then select your base… Hill, Robins or Tinker…and choose career planning or development. For example, if we select Journeyman - Robins - Professional Development, we will get professional development opportunities for Journeymen at Robins. For each employee level, the information is different but navigation works the same.
[Navigation video clip will run]
Sarah: One final question, why should wage grade individuals use this website?
Aleisa: This website puts career planning information in your hands. If you are new to the AF and want to understand development options, visit the site. If you want to know what is expected for your series at the next level, visit the site! If you have ever wondered what skills or experiences hiring officials value, visit the site. The Wage Grade Resource Site is your one-stop-shop for career progression resources!
Sarah: Aleisa, thank you for sharing this information. Navigation videos can be found at the URLs provided in the comments of the video. Thank you and have a great day.
