Volunteers from the 23rd Force Support Squadron’s Airman and Family Readiness Center came together July 26, 2021, at Moody Air Force Base, Georgia, to donate school supplies to enlisted members and their families.
The volunteers handed out backpacks filled with supplies to any Moody E-6 and below in support of Operation Homefront.
Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit organization that was founded in 2002. It was designed to “build strong, stable, and secure military families so they thrive – not simply struggle to get by – in the communities that they’ve worked so hard to protect.”
Tech. Sgt. Jeremy Kanapaux and Tech. Sgt. Tony Johnson are the readiness noncommissioned officers from the A&FRC. They work with school liaisons and service members to ensure children are ready to go back to school.
“We are attempting to help anyone E-6 and below, all of these younger families in the Air Force that may need help with school supplies,” Kanapaux said. “We’re trying to help out Airmen and NCOs prepare for the school year.”
While this is a Moody specific event, the A&FRC is also supporting the Airmen stationed at U.S. Army post Fort Stewart, Georgia, by sending 30 backpacks of school supplies to their base.
“Helping everybody out, that’s what we do,” Johnson said with a smile.
