Representative Kaiali’i Kahele visited Andersen Air Force Base as part of a tour of the military operations on Guam, Aug. 11, 2021.
During his short time on Andersen, Kahele spoke with U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Jeremy T. Sloane, 36th Wing commander, as well as some other key leaders on base and heard first-hand some of the positive things happening at Andersen. He also spoke with military members at Andersen about some of the quality of life needs and areas of improvement for the base.
Congressman Kahele is serving his first term in congress, representing Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District. Kahele serves on two House of Representatives committees, the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, which has jurisdiction over all modes of transportation, and the Armed Services Committee, which has jurisdiction over U.S. defense policy.
Congressional Delegate Staffer Robert Winkler also visited Andersen and took a tour of the installation on Aug. 10, 2021. Winkler spoke with Sloane to discuss the mission of Andersen and ongoing projects on base, and saw some of these projects first-hand during his tour of the installation.
Winkler is a professional staff member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and serves as the staff lead for the AirLand Subcommittee. The subcommittee is responsible for Army and Air Force planning as operations policy and programs. In addition, he is the lead professional staff member for all Department of Defense Fixed-wing aviation operations and programs.
