CAMP MOREELL, Kuwait - Christian C. Torres, Petty Officer 1st Class and hospital corpsman from Lubbock, Texas, assigned to the Seabees of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 22, is currently serving in Kuwait awaiting forward deployment to Kandahar, Afghanistan.
Torres, a 2001 graduate of University of Hawaii, is the husband of Crystal S. Torres and has eight children who reside in Mckinney, Texas.
Torres is deployed from the Navy Operation Support Center located in El Paso, Texas, and is the Battle Aide Station leading petty officer who supervises the hospital corpsman who provide the battalion with medical support including sick call, preventive medicine and field medical care.
"There is nothing more important to me than making sure all of our Seabees come back safe," said Torres.
Torres, who joined the Navy Nov. 14, 1994, says he feels proud to be part of an event that is making history.
"I have been prepared as a hospital corpsman to deploy to Iraq or Afghanistan," said Torres. "This is a very unique opportunity and I am proud to serve my country as a hospital corpsman."
the Seabees of NMCB 22, homeported in Fort Worth, Texas, are deployed to Afghanistan and other areas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
