MCGHEE TYSON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Tenn. -- U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Isaac Dobson and U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Nickolas Vann are the 2021 senior NCO and NCO for the second quarter at the Air National Guard's I.G. Brown Training and Education Center in East Tennessee.
Both Airmen serve as professional military education instructors for TEC's total force Lankford Enlisted Professional Military Education Center on McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base.
"These Airmen are true professionals in every way, always seeking the betterment of others," said U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Jeremy Hunt, the Lankford Center director of education. "Please celebrate their service."
Supervisors said that Sergeant Dobson led a two-person professional development team on bias training for 77 Airmen that helped raise retention and improved Air Force culture. He managed the dual-certifications of six instructors in NCO Academy and Airman Leadership School. The action offset open instructor positions to ensure student throughput. Dobson oversaw Lankford Center's standardization and evaluation to ensure its currency through 12 spot evaluations, which increased instructor readiness from the previous year. He also led the in-service training for 36 Airmen and prepared the center's first, post-COVID, in-resident class for 84 students.
Supervisors said Sergeant Vann directed the NCO Academy cadre as the lead instructor for 14 student flights, ensuring 217 total force Airmen graduated. He instructed two NCOA classes, which educated 35 noncommissioned officers through 260 academic hours, who earned 85 Community College of the Air Force credits. Vann completed 50 hours of professional development to ensure his instructor certification and knowledge and completed the Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education correspondence course.
Both Airmen are additionally exemplars of community service, supervisors reported.
