MCGHEE TYSON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Tenn. -- U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Juan Castro talked about the Hispanic American culture with fellow staff assigned to the Air National Guard's I.G. Brown Training and Education Center, September 15, during a celebration of Hispanic American Heritage Month.
The national cultural awareness month gets celebrated every year, from September 15 to October 15. TEC's morale committee organized their celebration at the campus in East Tennessee.
"For us here at the TEC, this month is the opportunity to learn about the history, achievements, contributions, and influence of Hispanic Americans in the military and also within society," said Castro.
Castro said the event combined fun activities with a luncheon of Hispanic food sampling.
Some participants shared what it meant for them to have a Hispanic American connection and families. Other activities included cultural music, facts, and games, with the event's highlight gathered outside at a pinata.
