Camp Humphreys, ROK -- U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Briana Cespedes was recognized as ‘Best of Pacific’ for top American Forces Network radio personality for a big base by Stars and Stripes Magazine at Camp Humphreys July 14, 2021.
More than 5,000 people voted in this year’s poll and Cespedes was ecstatic to be recognized for a job she loves.
“I am very thankful to even have this job. I enjoy the uniqueness in this job and I never imagined being in the military meant I would be on the radio,” Cespedes said. “My job is to inform, perform, and transform command messaging in a memorable way.”
Cespedes credits her background and life experiences to her on-air personality but also credits her supervisor, Tech. Sgt. Anthony Highland, for her success.
“I was excited but not surprised. You don’t necessarily know how people are going to vote and could be a popularity contest,” Highland said. “In terms of professionalism and entertainment value of the shows that were voted on, I think hers was the most deserving.”
Stars and Stripes Magazine recognizes AFN personalities, organizations and more by region every year. For the past 17 years they have counted votes from military and local communities to create a sense of unity and recognize those who make an impact on their readers.
Cespedes currently hosts the AFN Humphreys afternoon live radio show 2-6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tune in to your local AFN radio channel, or listen in via the AFN Pacific app.
