CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea – After years of planning and coordination, the Army Field Support Battalion-Korea opened its SPT060 complex during a ribbon cutting ceremony here, Oct. 14.

The ceremony kicked-off with remarks from Col. Lisa Rennard, commander, 403rd Army Field Support Brigade, AFSBn-Korea’s higher headquarters.

“I know this central issue facility has been in the plans, in the works, for many years - I think going on five years, so it's great to finally be able to bring this to fruition and to be able to open it and provide the best support to the Soldiers here throughout the Peninsula,” Rennard said. “This is their first touch point, when they arrive to draw their gear, and then the last when they depart and turn in their gear, so it's really important to provide excellent service in order to leave a positive, lasting impression.”

The keynote speaker for the event was Brig. Gen. Joseph D’costa, deputy commanding general - sustainment, Eighth Army.

“Thank you for joining us here today as we work diligently to ensure that our Soldiers have a world class installation to live on. We have yet again exceeded the standard with the relocation of the central issue facility to SPT060, the new central issue facility and organizational individual equipment main central warehouse that provides services that are vital to our ability to fight tonight,” D’costa said. “The increase in footprint from 72,000 square feet to 140,000, square feet, allows for additional space for services, streamlining the initial issue and turn-in processes for Soldiers.”

The primary mission of SPT060 is to serve as the installation’s Central Issue Facility where personnel receive their organizational clothing and individual equipment when arriving in Korea, and return it upon their departure from the peninsula. The new CIF is expected to serve more than 30,000 customers from Areas I, II and III annually.

The complex, consisting of three buildings, also provides storage and warehouse space to a number of tenant units including the 65th Medical Brigade, U.S. Army Garrison-Humphreys, 2nd Infantry Division, 1st Theater Tactical Signal Brigade, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and more.

The CIF customer pledge, as stated by Walter Kramer, deputy to the commander, AFSBn-Korea is, “Our customers can expect to have their requirements met right the first time, every time. This is not simply an organizational slogan, it is the core standard of every facet of our operation. Because the people we support are expected to do our nation’s most difficult, challenging, and potentially perilous business – there’s no room to offer them second best.”
