WASHINGTON - Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Washington has awarded a $2,487,000 firm-fixed price contract to Aimcon Design Build, LLC, a small business based in Harvey, La., to clear a site for the future construction of a hazardous cargo pad at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland.
The work to be performed consists of tree removal at an undeveloped area of Joint Base Andrews consisting primarily of woodlands. The site is to be cleared for the future construction of an aircraft hazardous cargo pad (approximately 80,550 square feet of concrete), a 75-foot wide concrete taxiway (approximately 159,005 square feet), asphalt taxiway shoulders (approximately 159,075 square feet), and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Proficiency Range that includes a 1,120 square foot area for a detonation bunker and a 260 square foot concrete protection bunker.
The contract was awarded on September 30, 2021, and the work is expected to be completed by April 2022.
