403rd Army Field Support Brigade conducts supervisor leadership training and staff ride

CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea – The 403rd Army Field Support Brigade conducted a supervisor leadership training and staff ride event here, Oct. 15, to foster teamwork and camaraderie among a diverse workforce spread throughout the Korean Peninsula and Japan.

“The reason we're doing this is to get all of our supervisors close together, at least those who could join us in person, as well as those throughout the Peninsula, and in mainland Japan, and Okinawa, to go over some key topics in relation to supervisor’s duties,” said Col. Lisa Rennard, commander, 403rd Army Field Support Brigade. “We are going to go over some of our priorities coming up in the first quarter, then have some supervisor/employee engagement discussion and provide some solid professional development that you can take back with you.”

Powerhouse Brigade supervisors not physically present at the Camp Humphreys Family Theater joined via an MS Teams video link.

“This is all about you, we're investing in you. If people are important, then we have to prove that through action. This is an action,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Christopher Reaves, 403rd AFSB command sergeant major. “If we truly believe people are important, and they are, we've got to invest in you and your growth, development, improving your leadership skills, and your communication skills. All of those things are important.”

The training portion of the day included sessions building cohesive teams, employee engagement, annual performance evaluations, hiring actions, military and civilian relationships, and more.

The staff ride segment consisted of a tour of the newly-opened SPT060 complex featuring 140,000 square feet of storage space for Army Field Support Battalion-Korea and a number of other organizations. The new complex is also the home to the new Camp Humphreys Central Issue Facility, operated by AFSBn-K.

“I would like to thank everyone who helped make this happen in such a short period of time. Army Field Support Battalion-Korea was instrumental in coordinating the event, especially considering Brigade Headquarters is four hours away at Camp Henry in Daegu. Also, the Brigade S6 (Information Management) Team did a great job of transmitting the event to our counterparts in Japan and Korea, said Capt. Rosalba Chavez Newman, brigade Human Resources (S1) officer in charge, and organizer of the event. “We received a lot of positive feedback about the event. It was a very successful collaboration.”
