YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan - The American Forces Network Pacific welcomed their new director, Air Force Maj. Kenneth L. Scholz, during an assumption of command ceremony on July 1, 2021.
AFN Pacific, based out of Yokota Air Base, Japan, is the main DoD broadcasting hub in the Pacific, delivering news and entertainment across the Indo-Pacific theater.
Scholz previously served as the Air and University Fellow Instructor and Deputy, Schriever Space Scholars, Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. In this role, he was responsible for teaching, leading and mentoring military, civilian and international students.
The Director of the Defense Media Activity, Mr. Hal Pittman, presided over the ceremony. Pittman is responsible for overseeing the production of mass media and the education of public affairs service members throughout the Department of Defense.
As the director of AFN Pacific, Scholz will be responsible for the organization and production of 8 AFN affiliates across the Indo-Pacific region.
