Sembach, Germany – Armed Forces Network Europe conducts annual diversity awareness training, Oct. 29, 2021, on Sembach Kaserne, Germany. Diversity awareness training is important to ensure the continued inclusion between branches and individuals.

The diversity training asked volunteers to participate in a privilege walk, where individuals either moved forward one step or backwards one step on whether they experienced certain events throughout their lives.

“Diversity can be tied to performance and that’s through innovation, different ideas, brainstorming,” said Patricia Jameson, Director, Overseas Diversity and Equity Programs at UMGC Europe. “How we handle, manage, view diversity, is going to be key to whether it’s going to contribute to high performance or low performance.”

Diversity awareness is essential to ensuring our military forces success across our dynamic global environment.

“I really enjoy annual diversity training because it reminds me of the differences,” said Senior Airman Autumn Vogt, AFN-E Public Affairs Specialist. “It gives an opportunity to speak about things that may be happening around the office or around the world surrounding diversity.”
