WIESBADEN, Germany – U. S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden supported a slew of Halloween activities across all of the installation’s housing areas Sunday night, Oct. 31 from 6 to 9 p.m. Trick-or-Treaters of all ages, most with two legs, others with four, filled Aukamm’s streets for a candy-filled extravaganza.
Garrison military police and the Wiesbaden Polizei coordinated and monitored the entrance to the housing areas to ensure only DoD ID card holders accessed the housing areas to participate this year. Due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, along with DoD and local German COVID mitigation measures, the Halloween tradition had to be scaled back.
“Halloween in Aukamm is a legend - people told me about it in North Carolina before we even moved here. This was just a little taste of what we hope to experience next year – hopefully then, we’ll be able to share this American tradition with our host nation,” said Jane Taylor, an Aukamm resident.
Festivities concurrently took place at the main Clay Kaserne housing area in Newman Village. Trick-or-treaters were out in full force. Many of the houses in the neighborhood participated in decorating their porches and entryways, as well as playing scary music to get the ghosts and ghouls in the right mood.
