FORT KNOX, Ky. — As hundreds of characters young and old traveled through Fort Knox neighborhoods Oct. 31 in search of treats, they braved sometimes frightening but mostly funny sights — and were rewarded.
As in the past, many trick-or-treaters worked the streets of the historic district this year. Many residents didn’t disappoint, coming up with innovative ways to deliver the candy. Deciding one bag might not be enough, some trick-or-treaters could be seen pulling wagons behind them in response to generous gifts.
One house hung up a long clothesline with bags of goodies clipped to it for children to grab. Another provided a dragon chute. Others brought out the kitchen tongs or set up tables with “Help yourself” signs.
Those trick-or-treaters brave enough to confront the firefighters of Fire Station 1 were also rewarded.
