Roughly 70 Nevada Army Guard Soldiers assigned to Delta Company, 1st Squadron, 221st Cavalry, which are set to deploy to Kuwait in mid-November, held their deployment ceremony earlier today at the Clark County Armory in North Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the first overseas deployment of 1-221st Soldiers since the Squadron deployed to Afghanistan in 2009-2010 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, which included about 600 Soldiers.
Family & friends attended to support their loved ones before they leave to complete a nine-month deployment to support the rotational U.S. Military security presence in Kuwait. The Nevada National Guard Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Ondra Berry praised Delta Company for the important work they are about to head into.
“You will not find a finer, fighting warrior group than what you have here in the Nevada Army National Guard,” Berry said. “They’re battle tested, they’re battle ready, and they are ready to make a difference across this nation. I want to thank everyone that is here. I want to ask for your prayers, for your support, for your guidance, and put your arms around these great men and women before they head out there to make a difference in protecting our nation. I want you to be safe, take care of each other, make us proud, make a difference and we look forward to your safe return. We thank you for what you do because you are America’s finest. I look forward to your success story when you come back. Battleborn!”
