GRAFENWOEHR, Germany — Thirty-four German and American civilian employees were recognized by Col. Christopher Danbeck, commander of U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria, at a Length of Service ceremony on Oct. 15, 2021, at the USAG Bavaria Tower View Conference Center in Tower Barracks.

During the ceremony, Col. Danbeck, USAG Bavaria Command Sgt. Maj. Sebastian Camacho and the Local Works Council Chairman, Wolfgang Dagner, presented awards to civilian employees for 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 years of service.

“Today, we have come together to honor some of our most dedicated employees,” Danbeck said. “We are fortunate to have you here in Bavaria as you continue to demonstrate a deep interest in the welfare of this community.”

One awardee, Directorate of Morale, Welfare and Recreation employee, Melvin Gonzales, was awarded during the ceremony for 45 years of service to the U.S. Army.

Present at the ceremony were the Bürgermeisters, or mayors, of the awardees who were recognized during the ceremony. Each Bürgermeister congratulated and took photos alongside the awardees.

There are 1,140 years of combined service between the German and American garrison employees recognized during the ceremony.

“I would like to personally express our appreciation to each honoree for your sincere and devoted efforts,” Danbeck said. “You are the essence of our community’s success: People who do what needs to be done day after day, year after year or even decade after decade. All of this without losing your enthusiasm and commitment to providing quality services.”

At the end of the ceremony, Col. Danbeck and Mr. Gonzales, the awardee being recognized for 45 years of service, cut the cake in the traditional celebration of those individuals awarded for their commitment to the United States Army.
