The area of construction operations is shown at a bridge area on South J Street on Oct. 29, 2021, where a new bridge was built on the street at Fort McCoy, Wis.
The new bridge was built over Tarr Creek on the installation’s cantonment area. Fort McCoy’s Directorate of Public Works (DPW) was in charge of construction coordination.
DPW Construction Inspection Branch Chief Dan Hanson said the project was designed by Short, Elliott, Hendrickson Inc. of La Crosse, Wis., and the construction contract was awarded to RHI LLC — headquartered in West Haven, Utah — on March 30 for $930,107.
The project was also completed Oct. 29.
Fort McCoy's motto is to be the “Total Force Training Center.”
Also, located in the heart of the upper Midwest, Fort McCoy is the only U.S. Army installation in Wisconsin. The installation has provided support and facilities for the field and classroom training of more than 100,000 military personnel from all services nearly every year since 1984.
