    U.S. Marine Corps Logistics Command

    U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Edward D. Banta, deputy commandant for installations and logistics, visited Marine Corps Logistics Command (MARCORLOGCOM) while at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany (MCLB-Albany), Ga, Nov. 3, and Blount Island Command (BICmd), Fla. Nov. 4. Maj. Gen. Joseph F. Shrader, commanding general, Marine Corps Logistics Command, welcomed Banta for the multi-day event.

    The Deputy Commandant, Installations Logistics (I&L), acts on behalf of the Commandant in designated matters of logistics policy, management and coordinates logistics actions with other agencies.

    The purpose of the visit was to tour MARCORLOGCOM facilities, housing, and industrial areas. The visit included tours and on-site operations overviews across each MARCORLOGCOM element, including the Weapons System Management Center (WSMC), Supply Chain Management Center (SCMC), Marine Force Storage Command (MFSC), Marine Depot Maintenance Command (MDMC), and BICmd.

    Banta took the time to engage Marines and civilian Marines to discuss ongoing operational initiatives and plans supporting current readiness, force design priorities, diversified distribution, and logistics in the future operating environment.

    In addition to the briefings and demonstrations, Banta took the time for open dialogue to discuss challenges, areas of concerns, or issues within MARCORLOGCOM where Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) I&L or other agencies within HQMC or Marine Corps Installations Command (MCICOM) can assist.

    Through the visit, Banta personally thanked Marines, Sailors, and civilian Marines for their resiliency and ability to continuously support global operations, combat readiness, and Force Design 2030 changes amid the ongoing pandemic.

    Wrapping up the two-day visit, Banta traveled to BICmd, Jacksonville, Fl.

    Col. John S. Sattely, commanding officer, BICmd, welcomed Banta to begin the tour of BICmd facilities. Marines, Sailors, and the civilian workforce engaged Banta while providing updates on the Marine Corps Prepositioning Program; to include current operations, current and planned maintenance cycles, and a demonstration of new technology to enhance equipment accountability and assembly operations.

    Reinforcing Department of the Navy and USMC top priorities in energy conservation and resiliency, Banta visited MCLB-Albany to engage base staff and receive on-site updates on installations security measures, base energy initiatives, and modernization/facilities related control systems.
