U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Shaun Withers, the division chief of TEC University, recently spoke from the I.G. Brown Training and Education Center's television studios in East Tennessee with the military podcast Chevrons, an enlisted podcast hosted by the Massachusetts Air National Guard.
"I was delighted to be on Chevrons, which is doing great work connecting Airmen from different ranks and assignments and engaging them through a podcast," said Chief Withers.
From junior enlisted to senior leaders and those in between, Chevrons interviews notable individuals to address everyday challenges and hurdles the enlisted force faces, said organizers on the Otis Air National Guard Base Facebook page @102IW.
Chief Withers and Senior Airman James Newsome, a flight line crew chief assigned to the 104th Fighter Wing, Westfield, Massachusetts, shared their service perspectives.
"I love hearing input from a chief and being able to compare what I experienced versus you and even being able to find that common ground," said Airman Newsome.
The Airmen spent 30 minutes discussing "why they continue to serve and what qualities and attributes they look for in their fellow Airmen and leaders," said organizers.
"This was one of my most anticipated episodes," said Chief Master Sgt. Sean Sullivan, who co-hosts with Airman 1st Class Francesca Skridulis.
Chevrons began as a monthly podcast channel with a first episode last June, highlighting an interview with the Air National Guard's command chief, Chief Master Sgt. Maurice Williams. Since then, it has hosted discussions between enlisted leaders and junior Airmen from various assignments across the nation.
