Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron commemorated the 246th U.S. Marine Corps birthday with a traditional cake cutting ceremony in Hanger 131 on the flight line of Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, Nov. 9, 2021. Keeping with tradition, the oldest Marine takes a bite of the first slice of cake then passes it to the youngest Marine as a symbol of passing on the Corps’ rich legacy and knowledge to the newest generation of Marines.
On the 246th anniversary of the founding of the Marine Corps, Marines on the air station were treated to a steak and lobster lunch at the installation’s mess hall, Nov. 10, 2021. Each year, Marines around the globe gather together to take part in the ceremonial cutting of the Marine Corps birthday cake.
Semper Fidelis and happy birthday, Marines!
