Operation Allies Welcome - Operation Allies Refuge

HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, New Mexico -- Mr. Robert J. Fenton Jr., Department of Homeland Security, Senior Response Official, visited Task Force Holloman, Nov. 10, 2021, where he spent the day seeing firsthand the personnel supporting Operation Allies Welcome and touring Aman Omid Village.

“More than 600 service members from across the Department of Defense are supporting the Department of Homeland Security at Task Force Holloman as part of Operation Allies Welcome, providing assistance to more than 7,000 Afghan evacuees as they prepare for resettlement.

"I am privileged to be able to contribute to this vital mission," Fenton said. “We have a very compassionate team here. They’re doing amazing things to support our Afghan guests,” he added.

During his visit to the task force at Holloman Air Force Base, Fenton toured the Case Processing Facility and Aman Omid Village. Amenities in the village such as the multi-purpose facility, recreational area, dining facility, and living quarters showcased during the tour are enabling the Afghans temporarily residing there to prepare for resettlement.

The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support to enable resettlement of Afghan evacuees.

“It is so important that the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, and the rest of the interagency have come together to provide critical resources and services to the Afghan evacuees.” Fenton said. “It’s just amazing to see the partnership between DOD, DHS, the interagency and non-governmental organizations.”
