CAMP TAJI, Iraq - The Headquarters and Headquarter Company, 541st Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 96th Sustainment Brigade, arrived at Camp Taji, Iraq Sept. 20, ready to start the reception and integration process. The headquarters element with approximately 70 Soldiers strong by the transfer of authority Oct. 4, and has since received seven additional people to help sustain company and battalion operations as well as other missions on Camp Taji.

The HHC conducts logistical support, not only to more than 725 Soldiers of 541st CSSB, but to Camp Taji and thousands of other Soldiers outside the camp. The unit provides transportation support, maintenance support, recovery support, and provides classes of supply to include food and bulk fuel.

The headquarters element also hosts a weekly volleyball game within the unit to help build a stronger cohesion between the Soldiers and to maintain esprit de corps. The unit also has a Morale Welfare and Recreation building located within the living quarters, which has an exercise room and dozens of books for those who enjoy reading.

HHC also supports one of the MWR buildings on the camp by providing one Soldier to augment the staff, thus helping the staff continue to provide great services to the units stationed here.

Pfc. Jassonnie Udoh of Kalamazoo, Mich., and the human relations specialist said, "We look forward to serving this community and will do whatever it takes to accomplish the mission. Our stay here will be memorable, knowing that we did our best to help set the pace."
