WIESBADEN, Germany – The U. S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden Education Center held a graduation recognition ceremony Nov. 17 at the Tony Bass Auditorium on Clay Kaserne.
Col. Mario Washington, Wiesbaden garrison commander, opened the ceremony by thanking both the Wiesbaden High School chorus and Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps cadets for their singing and posting of colors for the ceremony.
He also congratulated the grads for their commitment to putting in the hard work of working and still going on to further their education. “I thank you for what you do every day to make this Garrison a professional place to work.”
Command Sgt. Maj. Richard Russell, the USAG Wiesbaden Command Sgt. Major, was the keynote speaker, as well as a graduate, having earned his Master of Science degree in Management from Troy University.
Russell thanked the Wiesbaden Education Center for providing the education resources to the community and for helping Soldiers, family members and Department of the Army Civilians in navigating the opportunities to achieve their goals of higher education.
“To the Wiesbaden community, I applaud your commitment to better yourselves through education opportunities - for the late nights, the long days and the dedication to self-improvement which makes the U.S. Army and the nation stronger.”
“You have met the challenge while doing your job too. Never stop pursuing excellence in your goals as you leave this auditorium,” said Russell.
There were 33 graduates recognized, earning degrees from nine different universities and colleges.
