The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support hosted representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency Nov. 15 at its headquarters in Philadelphia.
FEMA Region III Administrator MaryAnn Tierney, Response Division Director Kelly Wolslayer, and Logistics Branch Chief Andrea Dispaldo visited from across town to learn more about each of DLA Troop Support’s four supply chains and overall mission.
“There’s no excuse not to visit one another given the proximity (of our offices),” said Patrick Owens, deputy director of DLA Troop Support’s J3/5 Operations and Plans Directorate, during the department’s brief to the visiting party.
The FEMA Region III office is also located in Philadelphia and oversees federal emergency management for seven Tribal Nations, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
The number of services DLA Troop Support has to offer is vast, and a one-day visit just scratches the surface, Tierney said.
“The depth of what DLA does, there’s so much opportunity,” she said.
Fostering growth with government partners is part of DLA’s overall commitment outlined in the “Support of the Nation” effort within its Strategic Plan.
“The Department of Defense and DLA are major partners for FEMA,” Tierney said. “We would not be as effective if we didn’t have the partnership with DLA.”
