The Iowa Air National Guard's 132d Wing has been awarded its sixth consecutive and 16th overall Air Force Outstanding Unit Award for its efforts from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020.
“This is an outstanding accomplishment and a direct reflection of the hard work and dedication that each Airman brings to the 132 Wing,” said Col. Travis Crawmer, 132d Wing commander.
During this period, the 132d Wing continued a legacy of excellence through readiness and lethality in support of the Global War on Terrorism as the 124th Attack Squadron flew the MQ-9 REAPER over 6,241 combat hours, 327 sorties and delivered four kinetic strikes, meeting 100 percent of combatant commander intent.
The Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Group supported four Combatant Commands and Operation GUARDIAN SUPPORT by developing over 8,011 premier targeting products through 13,829 hours of analysis.
Furthermore, as a force-multiplier, the RC-26 flew 341 sorties in support of Operation GUARDIAN SUPPORT at the Southwest Border, culminating in the seizure of $448,882 worth of assets and facilitating over 130 arrests.
As an invaluable resource to the Department of Defense, the Distributed Training Operations Center provided effective live, virtual, and constructive training resulting in excess of 14,000 personnel trained, 42,000 ready aircrew program tasks competed, and cost avoidance of nearly one billion dollars.
Finally, the 132d Wing provided unprecedented response to the State’s COVID-19 relief efforts by standing up the first-ever Task Force Reserve, deploying 100 Airmen and eight vehicles, and supporting six COVID-19 test sites resulting in the administration of over 386,000 tests.
