U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Josh Olson, 86th Airlift Wing commander, flew to Chievres Air Base, Belgium, for an immersion with the 424th Air Base Squadron, Nov. 16, 2021.
The 424 ABS is one of the 86 AW’s geographically separated units, enabling strategic airlift and power projection in the European theater.
After arriving at the base, Chievres welcomed Olson and provided him with an up-close look at day-to-day operations. Olson visited multiple facilities, such as the air traffic control tower, the firefighter department and the Petroleum, oil and lubricant facility. Olson was shown the work being done there by the Airmen who accomplish the 424 ABS mission of delivering world-class airfield operations for the North Atlantic Alliance. Olson presented his coin to multiple Airmen for their hard work and dedication to the mission, leaving a lasting impression on them and encouraging them in their future endeavors.
