JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas, (Dec. 1, 2021) – In an effort to improve patient convenience and maximize resources, Brooke Army Medical Center will close its COVID-19 vaccination site located on Fort Sam Houston on Dec. 3, 2021.
COVID-19 vaccines at BAMC will be available starting Dec. 6, 2021, by appointment only in all Primary, Pediatrics, Troop Medical Clinic, and OB/GYN clinics.
Additionally, Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center is changing to appointment-based immunizations starting Dec. 20, 2021. No consult is required. Vaccines at WHASC, to include the flu and COVID-19, will be provided at the Immunizations Clinic, 3rd Floor, D wing.
WHASC pediatric patients may continue to receive routine immunizations at the Pediatrics clinic during a scheduled wellness appointment, or beneficiaries can call to schedule an appointment in the Immunizations Clinic.
BAMC and WHASC offer the Pfizer vaccine to all DoD beneficiaries ages 5 and older. Beneficiaries can make an online appointment using the TRICARE Online Patient Portal or by calling the appointment line at 210-916-9900 or 1-800-443-2262.
CDC-recommended vaccines are also available off base at no cost to beneficiaries at a participating network pharmacy. Beneficiaries can search for their closest network pharmacy by visiting https://militaryrx.express-scripts.com/find-pharmacy, or by calling 1-877-363-1303. The San Antonio Market will be prepared to stand up a COVID mass vaccination day(s) if needed in the future.
