I am incredibly proud of the fortitude and exceptional ability the crew displayed while taking our ship through a long Maintenance Period during the COVID-19 pandemic and then accomplishing a successful contractor sea trials.”

Cmdr. Tyree, a Jacksonville, Florida native, previously served as Montgomery Gold Executive Officer before assuming command as Montgomery Gold Crew’s Commanding Officer.

“It is an honor to take command of one of the best groups of Sailors in the Fleet," said Tyree. "The resilience and technical ability they have shown over the last year and a half have been astounding, they are the reason the Navy can fight, and win, at sea.”

USS Montgomery is currently preparing to conduct TYCOM Sea Trials after undergoing a long maintenance period.
