BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan —The Deh Rawood District Headquarters in Oruzgan province recently reopened after two months. Coalition forces coordinated to have the compounds renovated after a visit revealed broken windows and deteriorating buildings.
"The compounds represent a government facility and we felt it necessary to provide an adequate working facility that is representative of the GIRoA and the officials working there," explained an Army Civil Affairs officer.
"The main meeting room was equipped with new carpet, curtains and pillows, " he said. Also, the room was thoroughly sanitized before it was painted. We also built a generator housing unit to prevent the sand and wind from hindering its performance."
"Building a functional and orderly District Center not only showcases GIRoA's involvement in the area," the officer explained, "it also provides a location that villagers can come and interact with their government so they can work together for a better Afghanistan."
