SELFRIDGE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Mich. -- The 127th Wing Annual Outstanding Airmen of the Year award ceremony was held in the dining facility and hosted virtually here on Dec. 5, 2021. Chaired by the 127th Command Chief Master Sgt. Richard D. Gordon, the Airmen, and units were recognized for sustained and superior performance.
Commanders use decorations, campaign, expeditionary, and service medals, and unit awards to recognize meritorious or outstanding service, as well as excellence above and beyond the actions of others.
The six winners represent the Wing’s top individual members and groups.
“I am very proud of the men and women of this organization,” said Brig. Gen. Rolf E. Mammen, commander of the 127th Wing. “We are here to recognize the stellar performers within our organization who continue to move the mission forward as a center for performance excellence.”
This year’s recognized top performers:
Outstanding Airman of the Year- 127th Comptroller flight Airman 1st Class Klaudeta Meraja
Non-commissioned Officer of the Year- 127th Comptroller Flight Tech. Sgt. Louis Boggs
Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year- Master Sgt. Kenneth Efting
Company Grade Officer of the Year- 127th Logistics Readiness Squadron Captain Daniel Scott
Honor Guard Member of the Year- Senior Airman Alexander Roth
Recruiter of the Year- 127th Wing Tech. Sgt. Brandon Hamm
Commander’s Trophy- 127th Air Refueling Group Hot Pit Refueling Team
Outstanding Title 5 Civilian of the Year- 127th Air Refueling Group Mr. Karol Clampitt
Outstanding Title 5 Supervisor of the Year- 127th Operations Group Mr. William Jordan
The winners of the first four categories are eligible to compete in the state-level awards announced in August.
The winners of the first four categories listed above will compete at the state-level award. The awardees will have their award packages reviewed by the state of Michigan, and if selected, they will then be able to compete against their Air National Guard peers nationwide.
