Rockin’ around the Christmas tree
The holiday season is in full-swing at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina. On Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, the air station hosted its annual tree lighting in front of the Main Exchange. Bystanders gathered around the towering Christmas tree to watch as Col. Mikel Huber and volunteers counted down to flip the switch to light the tree.
Special guests included performances from the Wooden Soldiers and 2nd Marine Aircraft Band, as well as a visit from Santa Claus. Additionally, guests were treated to hot cocoa and decorated cookies, and also had the option to write a letter to Santa and visit the holiday selfie station.
“This event is a way to kick off the holiday season and start it with the right mood,” said Jocelyn Jakubowski, Director of Marine Corps Family Team Building. “It’s fun to interact with the kids and find out what they’re excited about.”
This event was facilitated by Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) Cherry Point and sponsored by Duke Energy, Rankin & Fiume Orthodontics, First Command, First Carolina Realtors, and The Center of the Performing Arts.
