Army Sustainment Command - Redstone Arsenal Detachment

Redstone Arsenal, AL – In its ongoing effort to recognize Warfighters who contribute to readiness, PS Magazine began 2022 by spotlighting Cpl. Keaton Wilkett, USMC, as part of its monthly “I Own This” recognition program. The magazine also featured a joint interview with Maj. Gen. Darren Werner, Commanding General, US Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) and TACOM’s senior enlisted advisor, Command Sgt. Maj. Jerry Charles.

The “I Own This” campaign is designed to recognize Warfighters of all services who exemplify the highest standards of care for their assigned vehicles and equipment and contribute in meaningful ways to their unit's overall maintenance and supply posture. In short, they live and breathe readiness.

Cpl. Wilkett is an active-duty Marine assigned to the Weapons and Field Training Battalion (WTFBn), Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), San Diego, and stationed at Edson Range, Camp Pendleton, California. He was recognized for his skills as an M4 small arms repairer and technician who enhanced unit readiness through his continual maintenance efforts, both in the arms room and on the firing range.

Said Chief Warrant Officer Shawn Daley, who nominated Wilkett, “His on-the-spot actions kept all weapons ready for action during the first iteration of a new infantry marksmanship assessment course of fire.”

Since it was launched in June 2020, the “I Own This” program has recognized three Marines. All three were from the WTFBn, making it the unit with the most nominations across all the services. In their joint interview, Maj. Gen. Werner and Command Sgt. Maj. Charles provided a brief overview of TACOM’s mission and its efforts to enhance sustainment of the many fleets under its purview. They also discussed what Soldiers and leaders need to do to keep their vehicles and equipment combat-ready at all times. Maj. Gen. Werner stated that troubleshooting is critical and Command Sgt. Maj. Charles said, “The fundamentals of sustaining any equipment are PMCS and leader involvement.” To view the complete interview, visit: https://www.psmagazine.army.mil/News/Article/2884721/leader-interview-mg-werner-csm-charles-tacom/.
