Lt. Col. Todd M. Daniels received a promotion to the rank of U.S. Army Colonel on Friday, February 11th at the Air Defense Artillery Training Support Facility, Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
Col. Daniels is the Assistant Commandant of the U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery School, a role in which he assumed in July 2021. Being newly promoted is only an added bonus to an already extensive career in air defense. Prior to being stationed to Fort Sill, OK, Daniels commanded the 5th Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command in Ansbach, Germany.
Daniels is privy to the traveling part of his career. He says travel and people are the best things about his life in the U.S. Army. “Getting to meet people from all around the world, just the interactions with different people, all their personalities and the travel, that’s what I love,” says Daniels.
Traveling is just one of the perks to serving in the U.S. Army. Daniels’ hometown of Katy, TX, was a far cry from where he would end up throughout his career. Some of his duty stations include Germany, Alabama, Oklahoma, Colorado, Kuwait, and Iraq; with Germany being his favorite.
“The job itself was very rewarding, very unique type of opportunity, at the same time we got to expose our kids to other cultures and other experiences in Germany that they wouldn’t have otherwise had,” says Daniels.
Air Defense Artillery is a “critical capability that is growing in importance… the requirements are also growing… it’s a great time to be an Air Defender. We are adding new equipment rapidly to support our mission and our new Air Defenders. Now is the beginning of an all-new Air Defense and I am glad to be a part of that,” says Daniels.
