FORT CARSON, Colo. – Senior military representatives from eight different European countries were in attendance during a recent visit to 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne). The visit included an orientation brief and tour of the 10th SFG (A) facilities. The drop-in provided an opportunity to foster relationships between senior leaders of 10th Group and European Partner Forces for future cooperation and training opportunities.
“Our European Partners were able to meet with the 10th SFG(A) Deputy Commander and staff,” said a Special Projects Officer assigned to 10th Group. “They discussed ways to better integrate in training exercises and facilitate a streamlined process for collaboration in the future.”
As part of efforts to strengthen relations, the visiting Partner Forces were chaperoned throughout the 10th SFG(A) compound and given a look into one of the team rooms, as well as a brief on day-to-day operations. Lunch was hosted at the LaRochelle Warrior Restaurant.
“Partners were able to understand some of the training and validation procedures 10th SFG(A) Soldiers go through in preparation for deployment to areas such as the High North,” said a Master Sgt. within Group. “Additionally, training opportunities applicable to European Partners were briefed and coordination to allow participation in such events is being worked on.”
Along with touring a team room and learning about daily operations, European Partners also received a quick tour of the Tactical Human Optimization Rapid Recover Rehabilitation (THOR3) facility, where the benefits of tailored physical fitness programs, dietician support, physical therapy and even cognitive training were all highlighted.
Another stop in the tour included 10th Group’s Winter Warfare Locker. Here, the Partners received a brief on winter capabilities of 10th SFG(A) and training opportunities from the Advanced Skills Company leadership, along with viewing special winter equipment.
“Partners observed a Battalion Rehearsal of Concept drill,” said the Special Projects Officer. “The drill is in preparation for an upcoming Cold Weather Training in Montana.”
The Special Projects Officer goes on to say that the drill displayed an integral part of the planning process through combined rehearsals as well as allowed the opportunity for the European Partners to understand the validation pathways operational units take to prepare for deployments.
As the tour concluded, European Partners left with newfound knowledge and opportunities for integration and collaboration between their eight countries and 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne).
