The USO continuously adapts to the needs of America’s men and women in uniform and their families, so the troops can focus on their missions. At Al Dhafra Air Base, the USO hosts numerous programs to help deployed service members feel more at home.
One of the programs that they host is a tie-dye t-shirt event.
“We do tie-dye once a month,” said Meosha Lewis, USO staff member. “It’s one of our bigger events that we have and had 105 people participate this month.”
Lewis said that the USO at Al Dhafra offers programs six days per week. Sundays feature cornhole tournaments, Tuesdays are Magic The Gathering, Wednesdays are for the food programs, Thursdays are Texas Hold ‘Em and Fridays and Saturdays bring the larger, more spontaneous events. The USO is closed on Mondays.
Examples of the food programs include shawarma night, chili night, home-cooked meals and McDonalds night.
All programs start at 1900 except for Magic The Gathering, which starts at 1800.
Programs calendars can be found at the USO center (building 3810), at the dining facilities, on the SharePoint and on their Facebook page, facebook.com/usoabudhabi.
