    3rd Marine Logistics Group

CAMP KINSER, Okinawa, Japan – Combat Logistics Regiment 37 was awarded the Marine Corps Logistics Organization/Team of the Year (large unit) in an announcement Mar. 3rd, 2022, as part of the Marine Corps Installations and Logistics Awards Program.

The Marine Corps Installations and Logistics Awards Program recognized the outstanding achievements of the Corps’ top performing Marines, Civilian Marines, and units in the Installations and Logistics community. CLR-37 along with other winners and units will be recognized Apr. 7th, 2022, by the Deputy Commandant, Installations and Logistics.

“The recognition is a testament to the creativity, initiative, and hard work of the Marines and Sailors across CLR-37,” said Col. Douglas R. Burke, commanding officer of CLR-37. “Sergeant Major Novak and I are very fortunate to be a part of a great team.”

CLR-37 was recognized for accomplishments from across the organization during fiscal year 2021. CLR-37 demonstrated new tactics, techniques, and procedures to reduce physical and electromagnetic footprints during a Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation. The unit furthered expeditionary foraging concepts through collaboration with Navy Supply and innovative field training for Field Ordering Officers and Pay Agents. CLR-37 experimented with different command and control formations until it was able to provide an additional capability for 3d Marine Logistics Group and III Marine Expeditionary Force in the form of a proof of concept Jump Command Post that is configurable to any mode of available transportation.

“We put a lot of time and effort into the planning and execution of every event in this past year,” said Maj. Peter Thermos, operations officer for CLR-37. “The Marines contributed great ideas which improved the combat effectiveness of CLR-37.”

CLR-37 went above and beyond with their determination, dedication, innovation, and resiliency to achieve excellence even in the face of a global pandemic.

“I am proud of all the Marines and Sailors of CLR-37,” said Sgt. Maj. Jonathan E. Novak, sergeant major of CLR-37. “To see that nothing stopped our Marines from doing their utmost was inspiring and I am looking forward to seeing what great things our Marines and Sailors accomplish this year.”

3rd MLG, based out of Okinawa, Japan, is a forward-deployed combat unit that serves as III Marine Expeditionary Force’s comprehensive logistics and combat service support backbone for operations throughout the Indo-Pacific area of responsibility.
