Story by Staff Sgt. Jessica Forester

    361st Civil Affairs Brigade

Army dentists and dental assistants from the Kleber Dental Clinic, located on Kleber Kaserne, provided routine care and cleanings to soldiers of the 361st Civil Affairs Brigade, 7th Mission Support Command during a Soldier Readiness Processing event April 9.

SRP events are essential in maintaining the administrative and medical readiness of Army Reserve Soldiers, enabling them to accomplish their missions. “The dental readiness of our soldiers is part of our deployment requirements,” said Col. Carlos Gorbea, commander of the 361st, “if we aren’t dentally ready, we cannot move at a moment’s notice, when our nation needs us.”

SRPs are just as much about prioritizing the health of the force as they are about maintaining readiness metrics. Building these events into monthly training schedules ensures personnel have dedicated time with their providers to discuss any issues they may have and get the care they need.

“The 361st has Soldiers travelling from 23 countries around the world…” Gorbea said, “Not all have access to the medical and dental care that is common stateside. SRPs are crucial for soldiers to maintain their military readiness and their health in general.”

Staff Sgt. Justine Westbrook travels to battle assembly from her home in Linköping, Sweden. “I appreciate the dental clinic in Kaiserslautern because I have a consistent record with military dentists and don’t have a regular Swedish provider.”

The care provided by the Kleber Dental Clinic allows for Army Reserve units to emulate the mantra, “Ready Now! Shaping tomorrow…”

“I want to thank the clinic for their support of the 361st,” Gorbea said, “Their dedication to the war-fighter was evident by the way the provided service and care to our unit.”
