    174th Attack Wing

    Brig. Gen. Denise M. Donnell visited the 174th Attack Wing (ATKW) on May 24,-25 and June 5.

    Donnell serves as the Assistant Adjutant General and as the Commander, New York Air National Guard, Latham, NY.  She is also the primary advisor on all Air Guard matters to The Adjutant General. In this role, General Donnell is responsible for establishing policy and monitoring operations of more than 5,800 people assigned to five flying units and four geographically separated support units.

    Donnell's visit was for the purpose of gaining an understanding of the wing’s mission, as well as to meet with the Airmen of the 174th ATKW. Donnell was accompanied by Chief Master Sgt. Denny Richardson, NYANG Command Chief.

    Their first stop was to meet with wing leadership for an overview of the attack wing’s mission, capabilities, and key accomplishments.

    In addition to meeting with wing leadership Donnell and Richardson toured the base facilities, including communications, security forces, fire department, medical, operations, maintenance, 152nd Air Operations Group (AOG), Field Training Detachment (FTD), and Field Training Unit (FTU).They also toured the 174th ATKW’s forward operating location (FOL).

    On June 5, Donnell and Richardson met with squadron commanders, first sergeants, chiefs, inspector general, and enlisted members. Donnell emphasized what her plans are for the New York Air National Guard. She also discussed her priorities of safety, strength, and readiness with a focus on professional expectations, cultivating leaders, and respect. She then explained how these priorities will coincide with her plan for the New York National Guard.

    Donnell concluded her visit with a recruiting meeting. During this time, Donnell and the 174th Attack Wing recruiters discussed teamwork, support, and how the 174th plans on moving forward with its recruiting efforts.
