Eisenhower Army Medical Center’s transition to electronic health records – MHS-Genesis – is now live, marking the half-way point in the Military Health System’s enterprise-wide record-keeping protocol roll out.
“We’re excited about the benefits of this new system,” said EAMC Commander Col. Heidi Mon during the opening stages that began Saturday, June 11.

“Over the past 15 months, we have plowed the tough ground and focused on enabling a smooth transition though we expect some bumps, hairpin curves, and frustration,” she said. “Ultimately, we expect the new electronic health record to improve our healthcare processes, but the learning curve is steep right now.”

Due to the major transformation to MHS-Genesis, wait times for appointments and prescription pickups are expected to be longer than usual. Information about how to access care if an appointment isn’t available has been shared through social media platforms, telephone messages, Eisenhower’s web page and through unit leadership across Fort Gordon. We ask our beneficiaries to have patience with us as we master the new system. Providers at all DOD facilities will continue to have access to electronic files whether those records are stored in the new health record (MHS-Genesis), existing digital records, or electronic health records from community providers.

    What patients need to know:

MHS-Genesis, the new electronic health record for the Military Health System, provides enhanced, secure technology to manage your health information. MHS-Genesis integrates inpatient and outpatient functions that will connect medical and active-duty dental information across the continuum of care, from the point of injury to the military treatment facility. This includes garrison, operational, and en route care, increasing efficiencies for patients and healthcare professionals.
