DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- Lt. Col. Brough McDonald took command of the 305th Rescue Squadron at a ceremony held here August 5.
The change of command is a military tradition that formally signifies the transfer of responsibility from one commanding officer to another; symbolized through the passing of a guidon.
“Going forward, we will continue to maximize our lethality and survivability. That spirit and culture will continue at the 305th,” Lt. Col. McDonald said. “As Richard T. Kight penned in the 'Code of an Air Rescueman' of which the last four words are the reason and the purpose we do everything... ‘that others may live.’"
The 305th Rescue Squadron is part of the 943d Rescue Group, a geographically separated unit of the 920th Rescue Wing. It operates the HH-60G Pave Hawk conducting both peacetime personnel recovery and
combat search-and-rescue missions.
