Kelly Tomblin, El Paso Electric, CEO, was the guest speaker at the Aug. 18 White Sands Missile Range Test and Evaluation Analysis Talk (TEA) at the Professional Development Center.
Tomblin spoke about "Doing Leadership Differently: A New Model for Leadership".
She spoke about the importance of leaders watching their language and uplifting employees.
Tomblin also went over the following points: Build Your Knowledge and Your Knowing: She told the audience that there is no replacement for curiosity, touched on the importance of searching for knowledge from others, and expanding your input.
She focused on the importance of Think Love by doing the following:
Listening: She went over the importance of listening by hearing what others have to say and being present.
Optimism: Bring a sense of “good is coming” and we deserve it.
Vulnerability: Be courageous enough to be exactly where you are.
Energy: Eliminate everything that takes your energy away and know what builds it. Remove toxicity and add beauty.
Tomblin then went over what a leader is: Leaders are developed, leaders determine corporate mindset and language, and leaders can change the world of work.
At the end of the talk Command Sgt. Maj. Jose Melendez presented Tomblin with a command coin and a certificate of appreciation.
